The New York Film Festival has announced the lineup for its main slate of films, including “Poor Things,” “All of Us Strangers,” and “Anatomy of a Fall.”

The 2023 New York Film Festival has unveiled an exciting main slate featuring several anticipated titles. Yorgos Lanthimos’ surreal dramedy Poor Things, starring Emma Stone and Willem Dafoe, will screen alongside Andrew Haigh’s ensemble drama All of Us Strangers with Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. Fresh from its Palme d’Or win at Cannes, Justine Triet’s crime drama Anatomy of a Fall, led by Sandra Hüller, joins the lineup, as does Alice Rohrwacher’s adventure La Chimera, with Isabella Rossellini and Josh O’Connor. With 32 films total, including these buzzworthy selections, the New York Film Festival promises a compelling cinematic showcase.
Sandra Hüller stars in two buzzy titles at the New York Film Festival this year. Alongside her role in Palme d’Or winner Anatomy of a Fall, she will appear in Jonathan Glazer’s long-awaited The Zone of Interest, loosely based on Martin Amis’ novel about life in Nazi Germany.
Oscar-winner Ryûsuke Hamaguchi brings his new ecopolitical thriller Evil Does Not Exist to the fest, while other highlights include the U.S. premiere of Radu Jude’s Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World and Annie Baker’s directorial debut Janet Planet starring Julianne Nicholson.
With a diverse slate of 32 films including top festival circuit contenders, anticipated adaptations, and promising debuts, the New York Film Festival looks to deliver a compelling cinematic showcase.
The New York Film Festival’s diverse 2023 main slate will feature 32 films spanning 18 countries. Highlights include restored treasures like a newly unearthed 1966 short from Agnès Varda featuring Pier Paolo Pasolini, which will precede showings of La Chimera and Pictures of Ghosts. Fresh award winners from Cannes and Berlin will also screen.
Bookending the festival are the North American premieres of Todd Haynes’ May December as the opening night film and Michael Mann’s Ferrari as the closing night selection. Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla will screen as the centerpiece. With cinematic gems from across eras and borders, the New York Film Festival promises a rich cinematic experience.
The 61st New York Film Festival, presented by Film at Lincoln Center, is set to run from Sept. 29-Oct. 15 at Lincoln Center and in venues around New York City.
