Netflix Teaser for David Fincher’s ‘The Killer’ Shows Michael Fassbender in a High-Pressure Situation

In the initial teaser preview of “The Killer,” an upcoming Netflix film directed by David Fincher, Michael Fassbender grapples with his haunting history, portraying a central character with a lethal past. The teaser, unveiled on Tuesday, provides an intriguing sneak peek into the movie, scheduled to premiere in select theaters on October 27 before arriving on Netflix screens on November 10. Among the ensemble cast are Charles Parnell, Arliss Howard, Sophie Charlotte, and Tilda Swinton.

“The Killer” delves into the narrative of its eponymous hitman (depicted by Fassbender), whose involvement in a botched assignment sets off a worldwide pursuit to bring him to justice.

Directed by David Fincher and penned by Andrew Kevin Walker (known for “Seven”), “The Killer” is a Netflix project produced in collaboration with Ceán Chaffin. The film adaptation draws from the French graphic novel series of the same name, originally authored by Alexis Nolent (Matz) and illustrated by Luc Jacamon, published by Editions Casterman.

Scheduled for its premiere in competition at the Venice Film Festival on September 3, the film marks Fincher’s continued collaboration with Netflix after his successful 2020 film “Mank,” recognized with 10 Oscar nominations and two wins. The director also had an executive role in the acclaimed Netflix thriller series “Mindhunter,” which debuted its first two seasons in 2017.

Michael Fassbender, known for his role as Magneto in 2019’s “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” and appearances in titles like “The Snowman” (2017) and “Alien: Covenant,” leads the cast. Furthermore, Fassbender stars in Taika Waititi’s upcoming soccer-themed film “Next Goal Wins,” set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before its theatrical release on November 17 by Searchlight Pictures.
