Gal Gadot Shares Evil Queen Audition Story, Teases Upcoming ‘Snow White’ Live-Action Remake: “It’s So Delicious and Fun”

Gadot will star opposite Rachel Zegler, who portrays the titular first Disney princess in the film.
Gal Gadot devoted a month to preparing for her Snow White audition.
The Wonder Woman actress will play the Evil Queen in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney’s inaugural princess film. She stars opposite Rachel Zegler as Snow White.
“It was the first time in a while I’ve had to audition for a role,” Gadot shared in a GQ video. “They needed to confirm I could sing since it’s a musical. For a month I prepared the song, then auditioned – we filmed the singing, and I got the part, which was thrilling.”
She added, “It was such a departure from anything I’ve done. I could go big and theatrical in delightful, delicious ways. It was so much fun to film because it’s so different.”
In a People interview, the Heart of Stone star mentioned her daughter had assumed she’d play the title role in the live-action Snow White. But when told she’d be the villain, her oldest replied, “Oh, how appropriate,” per Gadot. “When I told her [I’m playing] the evil queen, my oldest said, ‘Oh, how appropriate,'” the actress commented to the publication.
Gadot and Zegler previously appeared at D23 in September 2022, sharing brief footage of themselves in character.
“Snow White is the girl you remember, but made for today,” Ziegler commented then. “There’s a real emphasis on the meaning of ‘fairest of them all.’ For Snow White, it’s about finding her voice and agency to become a fair, just ruler.”
Marc Webb’s Snow White also stars Tony winner Andrew Burnap in the lead male role. It features music from Oscar-winning duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, known for projects like La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Broadway’s Dear Evan Hansen.
