Bautista and Momoa Cast Together in New Action Film ‘Wrecking Crew’
Director Ángel Manuel Soto has lined up his next project following Blue Beetle. He will direct the new action film The Wrecking Crew for MGM, which is expected to star Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa. The two actors were in talks to join the film before the recent actors’ strike began.
The Wrecking Crew has a script written by Jonathan Tropper, creator of the TV series Warrior. He completed the script prior to the writer’s strike starting in June. Jeffrey Fierson, who previously worked with Momoa on Frontier, is producing. This new buddy action film unites Bautista and Momoa on screen for the first time.
The Wrecking Crew is described as a buddy comedy, with plot details still under wraps.
Bautista recently starred in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, while Momoa played the villain in this summer’s Fast X and will next appear in December’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
Director Soto most recently released the groundbreaking superhero film Blue Beetle, the first Latino-led comic book adaptation. He commented that the film provided an opportunity to showcase Latino history and legacy respectfully on the big screen. Soto first broke out with his 2020 Sundance film Charm City Kings.
