The Departed Official Trailer
The Departed – Plot and Synopsis
The film follows the exploits of two Irish-American Boston mobsters, Francis Costello (Jack Nicholson) and Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon).
Costello is the boss of a crime family and knows that his days are numbered because of his failing health and the pressure from law enforcement.
Sullivan, on the other hand, is a blue-collar police officer who longs to be someone important in the organization.
Costello and Sullivan have plans to move up in the organization by having Costello’s son, Frank Costello Jr. (Leonardo DiCaprio) become the new boss.
What’s More Of The Thrill?
The plan goes awful when Sullivan breaks the law and Costello has to decide whether to continue their plan or turn him in.
In Boston, Massachusetts in 2002, state police sergeant Colin Sullivan is working an undercover detail infiltrating an Irish gang led by criminal mastermind Frank Costello.
After a seemingly successful sting, Sullivan begins to trust his new friends and begins to grow closer to Mary O’Brien, Costello’s16-year-old niece, and an aspiring fashion designer.
When it becomes apparent that Sullivan is an undercover cop, Mary is killed in a setup that makes it look like she was caught in the crossfire of a gun battle between the police and Costello’s men.
